Handheld Computer Application Design

Martindale provides the capability for users of handheld computers to remotely gather, send, and access information between the field and the home office. Information from and to the field is communicated in real-time using wireless networks or the Internet. This capability provides information for decision-making in a timely manner. Information relating to order entry, order status, inventory status, delivery data, route accounting, sales automation, maintenance records, products and assets tracking can be gathered on handheld computers real-time. Martindale Associates can provide software application development tools, software design and handheld product specification to meet your mobile application needs.

Mobile Device Management Software

This software solution provides mobile device users with current data and application information in the field, while working remotely from the corporate server. Corporate information can be accessed using wireless technology or an Internet connection on PDA devices or handheld computers. Martindale provides the setup and installation services of the Mobile Device Management software to allow users to have updated applications information, new data files (price list, data sheets, etc.), email, calendar and customer information by synchronizing their mobile device with the corporate server. This solution provides device management for large numbers of PDA and handheld computers as well as the necessary security need to control the information on individual devices.

Barcode Data Collection Systems

Martindale offers multiple Barcode Data Collection solutions to read and capture information from any standard barcode and input the information into a computer application or database. The readers can be fixed or handheld, and will capture data real-time without any interruption in process flow. The information collected via barcode can be used to track finished goods, work-in-process, raw materials, update inventory, initiate shipping and billing records, modify test sequences, change ingredients, sort products, value inventory, batch materials, or track assets. Martindale has the experience to assist you in specifying the correct barcode format and labels, as well as the appropriate barcode reader to handle your data collection application needs.

RFID Systems

Martindale provides RFID tags and readers as well as RFID printers. We provide RFID systems installation and consultation services. RFID technology can offer greater performance than the traditional barcode data collection system. Due to the technical design of the RFID tag, the tags can be used in environments where bar code tags are not practical. Information stored in the RFID tags can be read and additional information can be written to the RFID tag. Reading and writing to an RFID tag allows information to be updated as the status or location of the product or asset changes. Not only can an RFID tag be written to, it can be cleared of information and recycled in the process. Since RFID readers use radio waves, light, cleanliness and weather are not issues when reading an RFID tag. On the other hand, barcodes require a clean high-resolution barcode for the scanner to physically see and read the code. Environments where RFID systems perform better include dirty, greasy, wet, abrasive, embedded, variable position, security and outdoors environments.

Automated Control Systems

Martindale Associates distributes and integrates computer-based control hardware and software products. With several choices of controllers, HMI software and analog and digital I/O systems to choose from, Martindale provides customers the assistance in specifying the appropriate control system to automate manufacturing processes. The control hardware and software platforms provided by Martindale are used for process control, machine control, remote monitoring, batch systems, weighing systems and alarming systems. The systems can be configured and designed to meet the majority of manufacturing automation needs.

Data Acquisition Systems

Martindale provides hardware and software to access data in real time. Data is collected real-time from manufacturing processes or test programs, and provided in the proper format to other decision-making applications, using analog and digital data acquisition hardware and software. Such applications have the capability to allow real-time decisions or corrective actions in the production or testing processes.

Asset Tracking Systems

Martindale writes software applications for mobile devices, providing inventory and asset tracking systems that capture and process information regarding status and location of inventory or capital assets. Using RFID and barcode data collection equipment, this information can be used to update corporate host computers using standard ODBC file transfer.

Systems Integration

Martindale brings 30 years of expertise to work cooperatively with you in understanding your needs. We will provide you with turnkey automated systems that work together with your existing systems to solve your problems and improve your productivity. Over the years we have successfully designed and implemented barcode data collection systems, process control, machine control, test systems, mobile device management systems, RFID systems, and asset tracking systems, using the latest in engineering and autocad software with factory trained engineers.

Remote SCADA Systems

Martindale will help you select the appropriate Ethernet IP narrowband radio modem and
program it to allow collection and recording of data from remote field locations, eliminating the need for manual visits. Some applications that can benefit from remote SCADA are:
· Substation automation
· Water and wastewater applications
· Ski areas
· Electric transmission and distribution
· Pipeline monitoring
· Oil and gas distribution

The remote system can use UHF or VHF* to provide end-to-end wireless Ethernet connectivity. The systems can communicate with SCADA devices , supporting Opto22, Allen-Bradley, and other widely used PLC’s, RTU’s and electrical devices. Our solution provides output power from 1 to 10 watts for significant range, and can be extended further by relays if required. These systems allow access to information as often as desired, and can also be used to execute actions at the remote site if desired. These units can also be remotely configured. Once system design and testing is complete, Martindale will install and test the system, provide training to users, and service the system if required.

Remote Inventory Management Systems

Martindale provides the capability for users of handheld computers to remotely collect and send inventory information between the field and the home office. Information from and to the field is communicated in real-time using wireless networks or the Internet. This capability provides information for replenishment and decision-making in a timely manner, with minimal opportunity for errors. Information relating to order entry, order status, inventory status, and delivery data can be gathered on handheld computers real-time.

Martindale writes software applications for mobile devices, providing inventory systems that
capture and process information regarding status, quantity and location of inventory. Using RFID and barcode data collection equipment, this information can be used to update corporate host computers using standard ODBC file transfer.
